How to Prep for Your Session
Your session is booked… now what? Here are some tips to prepare for your upcoming portrait session!
Make sure you like love how you look in your clothes! Check out our What to Wear Guide for some tips and inspiration. We can’t stress enough how everyone looks great in black clothing! We love photographing everyone in black tops and dark bottoms. It’s flattering on every shape and size. If you want, save some outfit inspiration on Instagram or create a board on Pinterest.
Try on the clothes you have in mind for your session and make sure that there aren’t any stains or unintentional holes.
Arrive 5-10 minutes before your session so you have time to check in, ask any questions, and have some extra time just in case of emergencies such as traffic or wardrobe malfunctions.
Bring back-up clothes. It’s always good to have options! Our studios have dressing rooms where you can keep your belongings.
Make sure you are ready to be photographed when you arrive. This means hair and makeup are all set. (We recommend scheduling haircuts a couple of weeks before your session!) We would like to spend your scheduled time photographing you so you can get what you paid for, rather than wait for you to get ready! To avoid this, have your hair/makeup scheduled hours ahead of time before your session.
If you are wearing a tie or bowtie, please come with it already tied nicely. Youtube is a great resource to find a tutorial.
If you’re wearing any makeup, bring it for touch-ups.
No nail polish is better than chipped nail polish. Either come with no nail polish on or have your nails be painted, chip-free!
Be well rested! Get your beauty sleep the night before and be refreshed for your session.
Double-check where you are going for your senior pictures ahead of time. There have been instances where our clients have traveled to the wrong park or the wrong studio and had to reschedule due to lost time. If you have a studio session, make sure you know which studio you are going to. If you are unsure, call us and we will let you know where you need to be. You can find our studio locations here. If your session is at a park, make sure you’re going to the right park! There are some parks that have the same name but are located in different cities.
